  • An excerpt from Orchidaceae And Its Taxonomy. Guido Jozef Braem, Administrator ยท 25. Juni um 22:07 Below is the plate of the original publication of Paphiopedilum crossii (as Cypripedium crossii) by Morren in La Belgique Horticole for 1865. Paphiopedilum callosum (as Cypripedium callosum) was pubilshed by Reichenbach fil. in the Gardeners' Chronicle for 1886 ... For all those that have successfully completed primary school, this means that Paph. crossii was published 21 (twenty-one) years before the publication of Paph. callosum. Thus, if there is still anyone who insists that Paph. callosum is the correct name for this taxon, I urgently advice him/her to seek an appointment with a very good medical doctor to have his/her eyes or some other, possibly important organ examined.
