  • I purchased the cultivar RLC Taeko Tamaki 'Volcano Empress' from Akatsuka in March of 2015. It was in bloom. For two years I tried to grow this in a bright filtered west window and while it grew reasonably well, it did not bloom. Since July, 2017, I have grown it under LED lights with summer temps (14 hr photo period) of 84 days and 68 nights with other cattleyas. All the other cattleyas have spiked/bloomed. This has grown well with a 6" pot producing 15 un-bloomed canes, however, no sign of any spikes.
