  • From Kiat Tan's response: "I was looking for variations such as the clone ‘Douglas’ when I chose the parents of the remake."

  • From Emrys Chew's Post, 2018-06-21. Regarding photo #563 Papilionanthe Miss Joaquim ‘SBG’ (Papilionanthe teres var. andersonii ‘Red’ x Papilionanthe hookeriana) is Dr. Kiat Tan’s 1980s remake of Agnes Joaquim’s 1893 original, now the national flower of Singapore. Variation in intensity of flower pigmentation may be explained by the use of different colour forms of Papilionanthe teres var. andersonii in hybridising. The characteristically deep burgundy-red of variety ‘SBG’ might even be termed ‘vinicolor’.
